Campfire Program: "Household Pets to Wild Pests" at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park

Join us for an evening of tales around the campfire as we explore the intriguing journey from household pets to wild pests in the unique ecosystem of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. Our dedicated ranger will guide you through stories of invasive animals that were once domesticated but now roam free, impacting our native wildlife. Plus, delight in the warmth of the fire with s'mores kits available for a suggested donation of $5.

From Living Rooms to Landscapes:

  • Uncover the unexpected journeys of household pets that have become wild pests, exploring the challenges they present to the delicate balance of the park's ecosystem.

Ranger Talk:

Conservation Conversations:

  • Discover the ongoing conservation efforts at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park to address the presence of invasive species. Learn how responsible pet ownership contributes to the preservation of our natural habitats.

S'mores by the Fire:

  • Indulge in the classic joy of s'mores! S'more kits will be available for a suggested donation of $5 per kit, providing a delectable treat for your evening by the campfire.

Bring your inquisitive spirit for an engaging discussion about the intersection of household pets and wildlife conservation.

Suggested Donation for S'more Kits: $5 per kit (All proceeds contribute to park conservation efforts)
